Two students from Chalmers Univeristy of Technology are doing their bachelor thesis at IETV, investigating how efficiency rate is effected when operating hydro turbines with variable speed.
During two days they performed field measurements in a micro hydro station in Knobesholm outside Falkenberg and I participated as their tutor. Connecting a frequency converter ACS800 from ABB between the generator and the grid, the efficiency of the small Francis turbine was investigated at different speeds. Watturo also participated providing the flow measurements.
