I have been visiting Bayano in Panama, where I worked for almost 2 years during 2002-2004. The turbine governors (HPC640) delivered by Alstom Power at that time were modified. The power control has been optimized, and even more important, the power limiter was improved.
The background for this update was that during 2010 with very high levels in the dam, there were a few incidents when units tripped on high power almost causing the dam to overflow and potentially flood the station.
