Estí hydro power plant was build as a turn-key project by a Swedish Consortium (Skanska, Alstom Power, GE Hydro) and originally commissioned 2003. It is an above ground power station with 2×60 MVA installed capacity. In September it was flooded when the tail level rose above design limits. The complete power house was flooded, meaning that all equipment was under water.
I visited the plant for an initial inspection together with some other international experts, and also helped the plant owner AES to make an intial plan how to get the plant back in operation. The aim is that the first unit should be back in operation March 2023. My main responsibility will be the turbine governors and excitation systems.
